In Morocco, the future of the electric car does not depend only on importers and showrooms. Without charging stations that are accessible, reliable, and easy to use, the transition will remain incomplete. It is on this strategic link that EVplug has chosen to position itself since 2021. Behind this startup is Walid Ansrah, an engineer trained at INPT, who built his career in IT, telecommunications, and international consulting before returning to the country with one conviction: to build a local solution capable of supporting the rise of electromobility.
An integrated offering already attracting major players
EVplug presents itself as an integrator of complete solutions: electrotechnical study, supply of certified AC and DC stations, turnkey installation, supervision, and maintenance. Its added value lies in a platform developed by Moroccan engineers, which makes it possible to manage a network of stations, control access, monitor in real time, and automatically bill sessions. An approach that transforms the station into a service rather than just a piece of equipment.
This model has already convinced several leading partners: Hilton, Fairmont, CDG Afriquia, Holmarcom, as well as independent service station networks. For hoteliers, operators, or developers, EVplug offers the assurance of a single point of contact, capable of delivering operational and monetizable infrastructure.
A vision oriented toward the future
But the startup’s ambition does not stop at infrastructure. EVplug wants to spare Morocco the pitfalls of Europe, where each operator imposes its own application. Its roadmap is clear: build an interoperable, unified experience that will allow access to all networks through a single card or application.
Tomorrow, this platform could go even further by integrating a fully digitalized “car budget.” Recharging, Jawaz, insurance, tires, maintenance: all car-related services would be grouped into a single interface. To bring this project to life, EVplug relies on a partnership with Chari, a Moroccan fintech holding a payment institution license, in order to develop an open-loop application capable of centralizing all automobile-related transactions.
This fintech ambition illustrates Walid Ansrah’s vision: to make EVplug not just a simple infrastructure provider, but a true orchestrator of electric mobility. In a market opening up rapidly — under pressure from importers and the arrival of Chinese brands, EVplug intends to establish itself as Morocco’s reference in recharging, aligning local innovation with international standards.
