Works by five artists participating in the KHAYLOUTA exhibition in Essaouira

The Khaylouta exhibition brings together five international artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, fashion design, and performance art. Through their multidisciplinary practices, the artists aim to contribute to Essaouira’s summer cultural scene. According to the organizers contacted by TelQuel English, the exhibition draws inspiration from the Moroccan concept of Khaylouta (often compared to a mixed tajine) reinterpreting it as a metaphor for artistic dialogue and cultural diversity by bringing together artists from different backgrounds and disciplines.

The exhibition will officially open on July 23 with an evening reception beginning at 6 p.m., offering visitors a continuous program of gallery viewings and live performances.

The exhibition features Swedish-American artist Ahu, who presents structural paintings; French visual artist Marie-Thérèse Latuner-El Mouhibb, whose work combines performance art and ephemeral earth drawings; Norwegian sculptor Elin Bergstø, who showcases multimedia and performance works; Moroccan photographer Younes Sefyaoui, whose photography explores themes of identity and memory; and Moroccan fashion designer Ayoub Bouali, who presents a collection of wearable designs inspired by the exhibition’s collaborative ethos.
