Intelligent video surveillance is coming to Agadir. With just a few months to go before the CAN 2025 kick-off, the city is stepping up its urban security preparations. The Société de développement local (SDL) Agadir Souss Massa Aménagement has just awarded a strategic contract to CIRES Technologies (CTHZE) worth almost 43 million dirhams, according to sources consulted by TelQuel. The aim: « to deploy a high-performance network of intelligent cameras in the Souss capital’s hotspots ».
The contract was won following a call for tenders which saw the participation of several specialist operators, including INGTELMA, Alomra Group International, Maghrebnet and Rtabi & Cie. After technical and financial evaluation, CIRES Technologies was selected to implement the project, the initial cost of which was estimated at 53.4 million dirhams.
This project is part of a wider drive to modernize urban infrastructures, driven by the 2020-2024 Urban Development Plan. The video surveillance system will reinforce the city’s security arsenal, with the stated aim of providing better protection for residents and public facilities, while meeting international standards in terms of video protection, according to SDL.
In detail, the contract covers the supply, installation, configuration and commissioning of 310 smart cameras, distributed along the main roads, strategic junctions, sensitive access points and certain tourist areas. The infrastructure will also include storage servers, supervision stations, secure links and a centralized command center.
Ultimately, this system should improve the security forces’ ability to respond, while preventing acts of delinquency. Sources close to the project indicate that the system will include high-definition cameras and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), interconnected with the services of the Direction générale de la sûreté nationale (DGSN).
