Tanger Med Engineering, a subsidiary of the Tanger Med Group and Novec, will lead the feasibility study for the development of a marina basin at the port of Essaouira. Specializing in the planning, design, and management of maritime infrastructure, this engineering company has been selected by the National Ports Agency (ANP) to carry out this mission. The contract value awarded exceeds 2 million dirhams, according to documents reviewed by TelQuel.

This project is part of the ongoing developments initiated around 2018, which aimed to adapt the port to the needs of fishing and ship repair. In response to the increasing demand for accommodating recreational vessels, the ANP decided to anticipate this trend by considering the creation of a dedicated marina basin. The stated goal is “to make Essaouira a fully-fledged nautical stopover, in line with its tourist potential and growing appeal to recreational sailors,” explains the ANP.

The study entrusted to Tanger Med Engineering aims to develop or update the master plan for the port and its immediate surroundings, with the ultimate goal of integrating a port area dedicated to recreational boating, meeting the functional and environmental requirements of the site.

It will be structured around six main tasks: diagnostic and analysis of the existing situation, modeling of future traffic, marine agitation study, sedimentological study, development of preliminary designs (APS) and detailed designs (APD), as well as the preparation of the bidding document for companies, as detailed by the ANP.
